Camp Friendship

The Cleveland County YMCA is offering a summer camp for elementary school children. Camp friendship runs weekly from June 1st until August 13th. Each week the camp features a new and exciting theme. The themes include: Howdy Week, Mighty Jungle, Hawaiian Hullabaloo, Disney and Superheroes, YMCA Olympics, Treasure Hunters, Animal Planet, Music Makers, Fun and Fitness, Dinosaurs, and Wacky and Wonderful. Children can attend one week of camp or they can attend all eleven weeks. The YMCA is a non-profit organization that offers discounts for families who qualify. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 6:30 am until 6:00 pm. If you are a YMCA member then you will receive a discounted rate of $125/week. If you are a non-member, you can still attend, but you will pay an extra $25/week. The price of camp includes field trips and projects.
Camp Friendship is an amazing opportunity for children to participate in fitness activities, learn about sports, meet other children their age, and travel to local organizations on field trips. Through this camp, children will also have the opportunity to learn life skills such as listening, communicating, following instructions, and how to share with others. Not only will children have fun at these camps but they will learn and develop skills that will stay with them for a lifetime. Jenny, one of the YMCA's Member Service representatives said, "At first the kids seem hesitant to leave their parents. But at the end of the day, they never want to leave."
