Swimming Camps and Lessons

Summer is finally here; what better way to escape the Oklahoma heat than to hop in the pool? Water safety is very important and you are never too old to learn how to swim. Luckily, the YMCA of Norman offers classes, private lessons, and camps for all ages.
Swim Camp is offered to those who are 8 and older. The camps run Monday through Friday from 1-4 pm. If you are a member of the YMCA the camp will cost $50/week if you are not a member then the camp will cost an extra $20/week. Michael, a visiter to the YMCA, said "It is important for everyone to know how to swim. I love the water and could not imagine having the limitations of not being able to swim freely. I will absolutely enroll my children in swimming lessons and camps."
All campers will work on stroke technique as well as the fundamentals of lap-swimming (including starts and turns). At the end of camp, the swimmers will be taped and they will get the opportunity to watch and review themselves. The campers also get to partake in games such as water polo as well as diving board and water slide activities. Healthy snacks are also provided. Swim Camp is an awesome way for students to improve their swimming skills in a fun and safe environment. Water safety is vital; this camp will teach your children how to stay safe around the pool.
The YMCA of Norman also offers swim classes and private lessons for ALL ages. It is never too late to lose your fear for the water. Trained lifeguards are waiting to teach you how to be safe and have fun when it comes to the water. Camps and lessons will leave a lasting impact and could potentially save your life. For more information on how to stay water safe, visit your local YMCA.
